100 Years of Service to Rugby School
A silver salver, presented for 100 years' service to Rugby School - one of the country's oldest public schools - takes place of honour in Evenlode, Church Way, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gray.
Like his father and grandfather before him, Mr. Gray is rackets professional at Rugby School. Although he retires at the end of this summer term, he will still be traveling to Rugby each day - to work in his sports shop, P.H. Gray Rugby Ltd. Helping him in the shop, as manager, will be his son-in-law.
Although he is traveling to Rugby each day, Mr. Gray still finds time for active participation in the village community life. He runs a small youth club which meets in the old school rooms, and among other things, is a churchwarden.
Further claims to fame: his wife has the prettiest garden in the village, his sister-in-law has been the national chairman of the WI, and his grandfather was word rackets champion.
