Village Sale

In 1932, after the death of the last surviving member of the Fawsley Estate, Sir Charles Knightley, the property was divided into lots and sold at auction. I have copies of the estate property sale particulars, but at the same time the contents of Fawsley Hall itself were auctioned. Great works of art, silver, china, furniture etc. These items were also detailed in a book of sale particulars of which we in Preston Capes do not have a copy or know of the where-a-bouts of a copy. If anyone reading this page happens to know where I can find such a book please contact me and let me know. Although not in Preston Capes itself, such historic detail would be wonderful to share.

The following pages are copy typed from the sale particulars of The Fawsley Estate, Outlying Portions. The document has kindly been loaned to me for the purpose. Included in the sale details are lots and histories for Charwelton and Badby, but in the interests of not going round the bend with so much typing, only the Preston Capes sections have been included.

Navigation of the pages is like the book. At the bottom of each page you can turn to the next page or return to the beginning.

Maps and photographs, where available, will be added later.
