W.I. CHRISTMAS AUCTION

I went along to this event last Thursday and had a very enjoyable evening. After a couple of glasses of wine and buffet supper, the auction got going. A large number of lots - including some mystery ones! - went under the hammer, and the evening raised just over £150 for the Easter activities.

CHRISTINGLE FAMILY SERVICE

This year's candlelit service will take place this Sunday, 14th December, at the church, starting at 6.00pm. Christingle-making is being organised by Amanda Giles and Heather Wilson, and will take place at Hall Farm on the day before (this Saturday). Please phone 01327-361225 for details of times if you wish to join them.

VILLAGE CAROL SINGING

Once again, there will be carol singing around the village during the week before Christmas. Dates and venues are as follows: Friday (19th) - Old Forge Lane , Saturday (20th) - Little Preston , Tuesday (23rd) - High Street/Church Way/City, Wednesday (24th) - Farms. For further details, phone Matt Sparkes on 01327-361840.

VILLAGE HALL CHRISTMAS PARTY

A reminder that the annual village Christmas Party takes place this Saturday, 13th December, in the village hall. Doors open at 5.00pm. After the children's tea, there will be a magic show at 5.30pm, followed by a visit from Father Christmas at 6.00pm. After the children have received their presents, there will be a Punch and Judy show, followed by the adults' buffet and disco. (All timings are approximate!) As already mentioned before, there is no charge for this event, but it is hoped that everyone who comes along will bring at least one plate of food for the tea and/or buffet. There will also be a raffle, and any donations of prizes would be gratefully received - please hand to any village hall committee member. Come along and see the village hall decked out in all its festive finery - and enjoy a Christmassy evening with friends and neighbours.
