CHURCH SERVICES

This Sunday at Preston Capes church: Carol Service at 2.00pm

PARISH COUNCIL

My apologies for including an incorrect date for this month's parish council meeting in last week's column. It did, in fact, take place on Tuesday (14th ).

REFUSE COLLECTION

A reminder that this Monday's collection (of grey bins and red/blue recycling boxes) will be the last one before Christmas. The next collection will be on 3rd January.

CAROL SERVICE

A service of Nine Lessons and Carols will be held in the church on Sunday afternoon, starting at 2.00pm.

CAROL SINGING AROUND THE VILLAGE

This year's carol singing around Preston Capes, Little Preston and the farms will take place during the week before Christmas, as follows:

Tuesday (21st ) – Little Preston and Farms, 22nd (Wednesday) – Old Forge Lane , Friday (24th ) – High Street, Church Way and The City.

All are welcome – no previous experience necessary! On each evening, meet outside the village hall at 6.45pm for 7.00pm start. Please bring a torch or lantern – and a plastic bag for the carol sheet is useful if it's wet!

All proceeds will go the the NSPCC. If you require any further information, please give me a ring on 01327-361656.

VILLAGE HALL CHRISTMAS PARTY

The village hall committee would like to thank everyone who supported their Christmas party last Saturday – with a special thank you for Father Christmas for finding the time to visit us! Over seventy villagers and guests – both adult and children – came along for all or part of the evening. The children enjoyed entertainment and music from “Mr. Cheese”, followed by a picnic Christmas tea and presents from Father Christmas. It was then the turn of the adults to play some games, before a buffet supper and nostalgic disco. The buffet table positively groaned with food – thanks to everyone for being so generous – and the raffle raised almost £50 towards costs.
