CHURCH SERVICES

This Sunday at Preston Capes church: Evensong at 6.00pm.

ANNUAL VILLAGE MEETING

Due to other commitments over the last couple of weeks, I have not found the time to do the fairly lengthy write-up on the meeting held on 26th June. My apologies – it will be included in next week’s column.

VILLAGE FETE – Sunday, 26th June

All villagers should by now have received a green flyer through their doors giving full information on our forthcoming fete, to be held in the church square and City Cottage gardens from 2.00 to 4.30pm. Please start sorting out anything you may have for the tombola, plus soft toys, home produce, plants, books, cakes (make some now and freeze them?) and bric-a-bric – stallholders are ready to receive your offerings!

Please do your best to sell the raffle tickets given to you – the monies raised on the raffle are a vital part of the fete fund-raising. If you need them, more tickets are available from Jane Arblaster (01327-361200) or Rose Dunn (01327-361236).

A meeting to finalise arrangements will be held in the village hall next Tuesday (14th June), starting at 8.00pm. If you are involved in any way, it would be helpful if you could come along. If you have not yet offered your services – but would like to – please come to the meeting, where you will be most welcome! (Volunteers are always needed to help with setting up, and giving stallholders a short break during the afternoon.)
